Dru Anderson has what
her grandmother called “the touch.” (Comes in handy when you’re
traveling from town to town with your dad, hunting ghosts, suckers,
wulfen, and the occasional zombie.)
Then her dad turns up dead—but still walking—and Dru knows she’s next. Even worse, she’s got two guys hungry for her affections, and they’re not about to let the fiercely independent Dru go it alone. Will Dru discover just how special she really is before coming face-to-fang with whatever—or whoever—is hunting her?

My Review
At first I wasnt really all sure of what to make of the book because for me it felt a little slow. I did find myself just getting bored at the beginning, reluctant to pick it up again and just wanting to read something else. However, I pushed through it and read it to the end, and boy was I glad that I did. the book, though slow at the beginning, was none the less different adventurous and unique in many different ways. Fantasy novels will always hold the key to my heart, but when there as unique as this one, in that the creatures and demons are not cliche and overused like in other books, you find yourself slowly falling in love with the novel. But the highlight for me was the fact that Dru and Graves did not romantically fall in love with one another at the very first page which is what usually happens when you read a book of this genre. I liked the fact that the romance was merely hinted at, and when Chrisophe was thrown into the plot, well you became confused on which way the romance would go, if there was to be one at all. So yes this was a highlight for me, because it meant that the book focused on what the book was about, rather than on the love traingle that could have easily happened. The title to me was a little odd especially when it became apparent that actually it had nothing to do with angels. I suppose in a way your just thinking, huh, why bother calling it strange angels when there is no angels in the novel. However, that was later cleared up for me, so yes the title was like a spanner in the works. you thought you knew what the book would be about just from the title, but instead it was no where near to the topic you had in mind.
I think Graves was probably my favorite character in the novel simply for the fact that he was a down to earth guy with a cocky and cheeky attitude at the same time. he wasnt made out to be prince charming, oh so perfect, totally have to fall in love with him at first site. He was made out to be your normal everyday kinda guy, or in the case of the book, the freak of the school. You really got a feel for the characters personalities and who they were in the novel and I think thats why, for me, I enjoyed reading it because it came alive to a point where I found myself becoming a fourth extra character in the series, just without any lines to speak. But yes the characters personna was well developed in many senses and ways. you instantly got a feel for the kind of person that they were, what sort of mask they forced themselves to wear and why, what they were really like beneath the whole mask concept that they wore. I admit when dad came into the novel as a zombie though I did kind of chuckle, merely because we are all given an idea of what a zombie looks like and how they act, so I just painted my self an image of a lip sided person with drool falling from their mouth. However the way that the creatures were painted in this novel was enough to give you shivers running down your spine and make you check that actually the doors were locked and you were safe from harm.
Yes the book in itself was a rather interesting one and I am glad that I read on and pushed through the beginning. I think that perhaps its not perfect, but then name a book that is. It has however left me wanting to read the next one, wanting to know what Dru is, how she will cope and if she will survive. there was just a huge sense of adventure in the whole context of the novel and I would recommened it to anyone who is sick of the cliche stories that seem to appear in just about every novel you pick up these days. Happy reading guys.
