Review Policy
If you are an author or a publisher and you would like to send me a copy of one of your books for review, feel free to contact me at xBlackRainbowCharx@gotmail.com! At the moment, I'm accepting both ARCs and finished copies of a book. But please read my Review Policy before requesting a review! Please note that I do not live in the United States, I lived in the United Kingdom, if you are considering to ask me to review your book.
While this page is titled 'review policy', I would not like to call myself a book reviewer. I would consider myself to be a book blogger, where I review the books that I have read and discuss what I liked and did not like about them. I do review all the books that I read as I like to review them straight after having finished them as this way I have a much clearer mind on my thoughts and feelings.
What books do you read?
At the moment, I prefer to read YA fiction, however, I also read adult ficition and real life stories.
- Fantasy
- Chicklit
- Crime
- Horror
- Steampunk
- Paranormal
- Romance
- Real life
.
How do you review?
I would not call myself a professional reviewer. I am merely a person who likes to blog about the books that I have read, discussing the points that I have liked about the novel, but also those that I felt could have perhaps been elaborated on or worked on more. I liked to reflect on the novels that I read, paying particular attention to the way the book has made me feel, how the imagery has grasped me, how much detail and depth we have had about the characters etc. Recently I have started to add the publication details, such as: Publication date, publisher, amount of pages, main characters etc. I also ensure to post an image of the book cover with the review so that my blog readers will be able to locate the book easier.
At the end of the review, I will rate the book in stars 1-5. The lines that I put underneath the star rating, can be called a conclusion, but is not always there. When I review a book on the blog, I will also post my review on Goodreads.
How do you rate books?
This is a small overview of the rating that I give to the books I've read:
1 star - It was not for me, I didn't like it
2 stars - It was an okay book, but I didn't find it very enjoyable
3 stars - It was a nice book and I would read it if you can
4 stars - It was a good book and definitely recommended
5 stars - It was a great book and I would call it a must read
I do not give a one star rating very often. If I rate a book with one star, that means it was a book that was lacking and most books that get this rating, were books that I was unable to finish. Some books I will lay aside and try it again after a little while before I 'give up on them'. If it turns out that I was still unable to finish the book, I will not post a review on the blog.
Please note that all these ratings are my personal opinion and that they (of course) may differ from what you may think of the book. I will, however, always be honest about what I think of the book, without burning it down. There is a lot of time and hard work put into the book, and I do not take that lightly. Therefore, I will not bash the author or the book in any case. If I didn't like the book, I will tell you this, but in a constructive and non agressive way.
How long will it take for a review to appear on the blog?
It will depend on the time that I have in which to read the book as I do have to consider other aspects of my life. However once I have finished a book I always make sure to put up a review before moving onto the next book. I feel this important to do because it means that my thoughts and feelings on the novel are still fresh in my mind and will not become distorted.
How do you decide the order in which you read titles?
I will plan to read titles with a publication date in the future before the publication date arrives as much as possible, and besides that I decide based on what I want to read. I read and review books for my own pleasure and entertainment and I don't want it to feel like a job. When I will be expected to have read certain titles within a certain time span, it will feel like school all over again and I don't want it to be like that - since I lost my love for reading in those years.
When I have more copies of books that have publication dates that are close to eachother, I cannot guarantee that I will have the review up in the week around the publication. I will do my best to get the review up in the month after the release date.
Are you interested in participating in blog tours, author interviews, giveaways et cetera?
If I'm familiar with the author's work, I would love to participate in all of those named above. If I haven't read the book or any book of the author for that matter, I will most likely ask for a review copy of the book so I'm familiar with the author's work.
Do you accept payment to read and/or review books?
All reviews reflect my personal opinion and I will always be honest in my reviews. I do not accept payment for reading a book, posting a review, promoting anything or whatsoever. Please note that if I accept your offer to read a book, it will not guarantee you a favorable or positive review.
Thank you for reading my review policy. If you have any more questions, feel free to send me an email at xblackrainbowcharx@hotmail.com
