Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father—the one responsible for ruining her mother’s life. Then she’s captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unholy partnership.

In exchange for finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She’s amazed she doesn’t end up as his dinner—are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn’t have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her newfound status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side... and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat

 My Review
I admit it took me a little while to read this book, merely because I have had such a busy week and when I have wanted to sit and read I have beem so tired that I have not been able to focus on it. I suppose that is why I sat myself down with the intentions of doing nothing but reading, to finish the book and to see if it was all that worthy of a read. So was it all that worthy of a read? In someways, yes it was, in otherways, no not so much. Like with every book that you read there are always going to be good points and bad points and it was therefore no surprise to see the same with this; afterall a book can't be perfect for every reader, otherwise no one would ever have any critical comment to give on how something could be improved. I did think that the main character was well developed but I didn't feel like you really got to know her all that well. Yes her father left her before she was born and it turns out she is a half vampire, but the whole time your reading the novel your wondering, how did this impact her life, when did she notice the difference, what sort of effect did it have on her? It just leaves you with all these questions. It just seems that actually there is no emotional connection to the main character here, so you don't really get to feel for what and who she is. you merely see her as this person in a book. Bones is your typical vampire guy and yes, in many ways he reminded me of Spike from buffy because he was the tough guy who knew that he was gorgeous and knew that he could get any girl he wanted to if he wanted. I suppose in many senses that just made the book a little bit cliche because you could kind of see what was going to happen. She was the buffy and he her spike. of course they were going to fall in love and I suppose that is a little irratable because you knew that pretty much from their first meeting.

However, the book does not fail to keep you on your toes because there always seems to be some formation of action going on, meaning that your just left wondering what your going to image in your head on the enxt page, what will you see happening, whose going to get hurt next? However even with the adrenaline pieces you feel like there is detail missing, like little things have just been skimmed over, but they still stick in your mind. Like the thing about the missing girls, were they actually missing or had something actually happened to you. your just sort of left wondering if this is going to come up later on or not. I do think that the novel itself though was good because it did have a lot to offer to the reader and I do think that if you want something that has a little pace to it and is a good girl with tough attitude then its a worthy read. I just get the feeling that it could have been so much better as well. that doesnt mean I wont try to get my hands on the rest of the series though because of course I want to know what happens.

Yes, it was the ending therefore that won me over because this left me with the most questions, left me wanting to know what is going to happen next, why did that happen in the first place. its almost like the author has played a game of tease with you. she has set you up to make you feel the loving relationship between the vamp and the half vamp, only for you to then see that actually, its not all perfect and something else is happening between the lines. I just feel that there is a lot of energy to the novel and that if you have patience and are willing to beat through all the cliche, seen them before in so many other book, parts, then its a worthy read. Im hoping its one of those series taht gets better as iot goes on, that you cant help but end up falling in love with. I guess the only way to find out if thats the case is to read on.

didn't like it it was ok liked it really liked it it was amazing

  1. Your review is so true. I do like these books, but they're not the greatest thing around obviously. It's true, you don't get a whole lot of Cat's history. These books are very present day focused, there's not a whole lot of backstory, unless it's essential to the current drama, and they are all about the current big bad with a couple of sex scenes thrown in.

That said, they can be a great way to pass an afternoon. They're fun and whimsical and full of snark and that's their main appeal to me.
