setting
In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . .
Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy.
Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.
As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?
Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart.
My Review
An amazing book that I enjoyed the whole way through. What I liked about this book was the fact that it had a very realistic feel to it, meaning that I was able to connect to it, relate to it and understand it from more than one angle and perspective. The characters were well developed and written up, they had a lot of energy and sense of personality to them that you just got this real edge and feel aboiut them when you was reading. I think my favorite character though was probably Tucker, merely because he reminded me of the typical bad boy who doesnt want to admit they have feelings. He just seemed to be a character that brought a smile to my lips and I felt myself having a crush on him as I was reading. Claryw as well presented as well though, in a way that just made me smile but also made me remember what my old teenage days were like, where I wanted to connect with my mum and my siblings, but how I also wanted to be a teenager, to be who I wanted to be regardless of what others thought.
What I liked about this book though was the fact that although other angel books have been out and published, this seemed to have a plot all of its own that stood out compared to the others. The whole falling in love style but not being allowed to be with one another, the suspense and the mystery mixed with the cliche and predictable. It just seemed to have me on edge the whole time, and although it took me a few days to read its merely due to the fact that I have not felt 100% well in health. I did very much enjoy this book though which is therefore no surprise when I state how annoyed I am at not having the second one. I want to know what is going to happen next, what will occur, and who will be with who. I just feel that tehre is a whole lot more that this seires has to offer and I really look forward to reading the next book.
